Parwana's Story

Parwana Ibrahimkhail Nijrabi was a 23 year old student who was one of the many Afghan protesters who were detained after the Taliban takeover. She decided to protest by organizing several marches with a group of fellow students but was, unfortunately, violently arrested. She said they started torturing her the moment they arrested her, both physically and verbally. Parwana was in jail for a whole month with horrible conditions before she was released by a human rights organization, but not without being forced to sign a confession admitting her guilt and promising not to participate in any more protests.
